Redemption
Why I chose this title "Redemption" for Mr. Evan Honer:
I have never been disappointed in any of his concerts until I went to see him in DR back on March 29th. No introductions, no interaction with the audience, and granted even though he showed up late he sang till late as well. I felt so disconnected with my baby, because he was disconnected with all of us. I am a longtime devoted fan of him and have seen him since the early years of the 90's.
He did show up once again late, and started the singing routine with thrusting the mike towards the audience and complaining to the imaginary sound people like he always does, you know, his usual antics, BUT, after he reappeared from his 5 min rest pit stop, he delivered the goods. Wow, I was in awe. I had wonderful seats, due to my friend's foot in a cast, we were relocated to seats right across the stage, so I was able to see him face to face from a respectable distance :)
His selected ensemble of songs was excellent because he included some major key songs that resonated with our heartstrings. Anyways, he carried himself, like the olden days, more assertive into making sure that he hit every note. He also was more engaging with the audience which is essential for every artist to be able to master. He also made sure to include a key song "La Bikina" which is the one he failed to sing at DR.
But it just wasn't a good show and I won't get into the logistics on that, since we are supposed to be discussing this show. Now moving forward, I hoped that whatever criticism he received from that show, he used, to hone in what needed to be rectified and amplified and boy, I wasn't let down :) Now only had he shed some noticeable weight since March, he started belting out those songs with those electrifying vocal cords of his.
And when he brought out the mariachi's WHEW!!!!!!! Me, along with the audience went bananas! Their interaction, their chemistry was papable simple mesmerizing. His wardrobe was impeccable as always, I believe he picks out his own suits which fit him to a tee. Very professional and stylish at the same time. I was deeply impressed and I will conclude this review with these 3 following words: Welcome back Luismi..................
